Forest Green Accents in a Lake House — Coalmont, TN

Big windows, a stone fireplace and a view of the water set the tone in this Coalmont lake house, so the palette had to work with the wood rather than fight it. We brought the main walls to a soft cream and used a deep forest green as an accent: flanking the fireplace under the tongue-and-groove ceiling, behind a white hutch in the breakfast area, on a long dining room wall, and up a tall stair wall below a skylight.

The kitchen's stepped tray ceiling, once broken up with green bands, is now one clean white field with its layered crown molding picked out. The dining room tray ceiling got the same treatment above the crystal fixtures. In the primary bedroom we finished the vaulted plank ceiling and beams in bright white, and a sunroom went to deep navy so its white built-in shelving and window casings stand out sharply.
