Most of the main floor in this Ooltewah home was repainted, so we kept the palette in one cool family. The formal dining room takes the deepest tone, a medium slate gray above white picture-frame wainscoting, with the crown molding and chair rail kept bright. The vaulted living room, open dining area, kitchen and laundry share a lighter blue-gray that keeps the long sightlines consistent from room to room.
Before painting the kitchen, a damaged section of the textured ceiling was cut out and replaced with new drywall. In the primary bedroom, the stepped tray ceiling has gray bands set between white crown molding, which gives the ceiling real depth. The primary bath, with its sloped ceiling and tile backsplash, carries the same pale blue-gray, and the six-panel doors and casings throughout were finished in clean white.
