Stepped Tray Ceiling and Fluted Trim — Chattanooga, TN

Look up in the living room and the stepped tray ceiling is the first thing you see. On this Chattanooga interior painting project we kept each level and the crown molding a soft white, while the walls below carry a warm beige that sits easily with light upholstery and dark wood floors. Recessed lights wash across the steps, so the corners and the transitions between levels had to be crisp.

The door casings are fluted, with several fine grooves and a back band, and they were finished in a smooth white enamel with clean edges against the wall color. In the guest bedroom, the same beige meets white crown and window trim. Small details like these are where careful brushwork shows, and they set the standard for the rest of the house.
