Warm White Walls & Tray Ceilings — Chattanooga, TN

White is the hardest color to paint well, because every roller mark, uneven cut line and patch shows. In this Chattanooga home nearly every room is a soft, warm white, so we treated the walls and trim with particular care. The main bedroom has a layered tray ceiling with crown molding at each step, framing a beaded chandelier and a wall of tall windows that look out into the trees.

Upstairs, a bedroom tucked under the roofline carries the same warm white across its sloped ceiling planes, with black window shutters providing contrast. A sitting room with plantation shutters and crown molding, a home gym with white double closet doors, and a bathroom with a double vanity all share the palette, along with crisp white baseboards and door casings. The result is a quiet, consistent backdrop that lets natural light and wood floors do the work.
